This is because, the naira scarcity in the country has resurfaced, limiting cash withdrawals for Nigerians even in Port Harcourt.
Point of sale operators (PoS) have also increased their prices for withdrawals, claiming they buy naira from warehouses and filling stations as banks hardly dispense cash due to the scarcity of the naira.
The POS operators in an interview with Today FM’s Zion Ojirika expressed their frustration, noting the naira scarcity is taking a toll on their businesses on a daily basis.
Banks have limited their daily withdrawals by customers to twenty thousand Naira.
Today FM reports that some POS operators now charge their customers three hundred Naira for a five thousand naira withdrawal, while ten thousand withdrawal charge is between six hundred to one thousand Naira.
