Our correspondent reports that ATSUWETE was killed last night by yet-to-be indentified gunmen, in yet to be established circumstances.The assassination of ATSUWETE came three days after he appeared on radio to argue against the purported court order stopping
INEC from releasing the rerun election results for Tai Local Government Area.
The Rivers State Police Command has also confirmed the assassination of the radical lawyer, but the Police Public Relations Officer, NNAMDI OMONI said detectives are working to gather evidence to determine the exact circumstance of the incident.
Our correspondent is also following up on the matter and has confirmed that the remains of the slain lawyer have been deposited at the mortuary of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching.
It was also gathered that KEN ATSUWETE was first abducted from his home within Rumuchiorlu village at Aluu community in Ikwerre Local Government Area around 8PM last night.
Close sources said his abductors shot him several times on both thighs and dropped him off by the roadside, where he was found by passersby who then took him first to a police station for entries.
However; KEN ATSUWETE died on the way before he could get help from the hospital.
Before the assassination last night, an associate of the slain lawyer said the deceased had complained of receiving several threatening anonymous phone calls and text messages.
Our source said the complain started after ATSUWETE sent a petition to the Inspector General of Police, requesting for a reopening of the 2015 political campaign murders in Okrika.
