Briefing newsmen at command Headquarters in Port Harcourt, the command Public Relations Officer, DSP NNAMDI OMONI who spoke on behalf of the state commissioner of Police, FRANCIS ODESANYA said a crack team of Special Mobol Squad acted based on a distress call around Ihuike community in Ahoada axis of East-West Road.
DSP OMONI said the criminal had opened fire on sighting the policemen who were on a mission to rescue an eighteen-sitter commercial bus which was travelling from Benin to Port Harcourt and was being attacked by the hoodlums.
The Police PPRO also confirmed that three passengers of the bus lost their lives and others sustained injuries when the driver of the bus lost control.
DSP OMONI said items recovered from the robbers AK47 riffle, thirty round of 7.62mm ammunition, one Takarev pistol, one Brownie pistol and two Military face Caps.
