This was in response to a directive by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji SA-AD ABUBAKAR the Third, for Muslims in Nigeria to continue the Ramadan fasting today.
Imam SHAAFIEE QAASIM of As-Sunnah Mosque around Eligbolo axis of Port Harcourt said it was necessary to follow the directive of the Sultan to ensure the successful conclusion of the Ramadan season.
Imam QAASIM, who spoke in an interview with our correspondent VICTOR EZEAMA, said the extra day was due to changes in the calculation of the number of days in locating the new moon.
On his part; the Secretary of Port Harcourt chapter of the Muslim group – Al-Usrah, MOSHOOD ABIOLA, explained that Ramadan was an important exercise in the life of every Muslim.
