AIG Okolo who gave the advice during familiarization visit to the Rivers State Command, cautioned against making checkpoints areas of extortion.
The Zone sixteen AIG however commended the performance of operatives of the state Command, and reminded them of the mandate of the police which he said is to ensure that public space is peaceful and secured.
Earlier in his speech, the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Nwonyi Polycarp-Emeka told the AIG of the Command’s challenges, including the shortage of arms and ammunitions.
Today FM’s Uchendu Ejiowhor reports that the AIG after addressing the officers, entered into close door meeting with the management, heads of units and tactical teams of the Command.
