Members of the panel were led by DAMIAN OKORO, who is a Deputy Commissioner of Police, while Governor WIKE is one of the defendants.
During their interaction; Governor WIKE alleged that the panel was established by the Inspector-General of Police, IBRAHIM IDRIS, with a predetermined goal to assist the All Progressives Congress at the Election Petitions Tribunal.
Governor WIKE disclosed that the Rivers State Government has initiated a legal challenge against the setting up of the police investigative panel.
He maintained that the Rivers State Government would not participate in the activities of the panel because it was bias and operating an agenda that is against the Peoples Democratic Party.
Governor WIKE expressed regret that the Nigeria Police was being used to protect the interest of a particular politician in the state.
A statement released by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Electronic Media, SIMEON NWAKAUDU, quoted the Chairman of the Police Panel, DCP DAMIAN OKORO saying that his team would also examine the role of security personnel during the rerun legislative elections on 10th December last year.
