POLICE PROBE DEATH OF 16-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN PRIVATE HOSPITAL, PORT HARCOURT

A resident of Mile Two Diobu in Port Harcourt, Kehinde Ajibade, is calling on the police to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of his 16-year-old daughter, Favor Ajibade, at a private hospital in the city.

Favor, an SS2 student of Orogbum Community Secondary School, reportedly died on May 13 under unclear circumstances. Her father alleged that she had been under the influence and custody of Pastor Ibibia Michael Korobo, founder of Dominion Inspiration Deliverance Ministry in Diobu, whom he accused of forcefully taking the girl against his wishes.

He said he last saw his daughter two days before her death, when she appeared healthy, and later received news of her passing.

Ajibade further alleged that his daughter’s behaviour changed after she began attending the church in 2025, and claimed repeated efforts to bring her back home were ignored.

He is calling on the Inspector General of Police, the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, and the State Criminal Investigation Department to carry out a thorough investigation.

A civil rights advocate, Samuel Robinson, says civil society groups have written to the police demanding that the matter should not be swept under the carpet.

Efforts to get a response from Pastor Korobo were unsuccessful, while police authorities are yet to issue an official statement.
