Police invade Neighborhood media in Port Harcourt,arrest 4 persons.

The Chief Operating Officer of the company, BEKEE ANYALEWECHI confirmed in a statement that the policemen attached to the Ministry of Town Planning Urban Development stormed the office around Mile One area on Ikwerre Road without prior warning.

 

ANYALEWECHI also confirmed the arrest of the editor of the weekly publication, KELECHI ASOGWA-AMADI, two operators of the Nativity Press and a customer, whom he said were later paraded on Olu-Obasanjo road as common criminals.

 

He said the leader of the police team refused to disclose neither his identity nor the reason for the invasion and arrest of the men.

 

 

The management of the company condemned the action by the policemen, describing it as irreprehensible and draconian, adding that it was backward step against civilisation. 

 

 

It is therefore demanding the immediate and unconditional release of the personnel and apologies from the Rivers State Police Command and the State Ministry of Town Planning and Urban Development.
