Police in Trans-Amadi area of Port Harcourt have arrested two suspected armed robbers around the Woji slaughter market.
A senior police officer who confirmed the development to our correspondent said the suspects were caught with arms while laying ambush around the slaughter waterside.
There are however insinuations that the suspects may have been arrested in connection with the recent dissolution of the leadership of the livestock market union.
Meanwhile, the controversy surrounding the leadership of the Trans-Amadi Slaughter market continues to linger, as members of the dissolved leadership have refused to vacate their positions.
Our correspondent gathered that the new committee headed by Alahji IBRAHIM MAISUNDU BELI is yet to receive appointment letter from Obio-AKpor Local Government council to assume office.
Speaking in an interview with correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR, the sacked chairman, Alhaji AHMED MUSA insists that he remains the leader of the slaughter market.
MUSA said he has filed a suit before the Federal High Court to seek redress, stressing that only the court can remove him as the chairman.
MUSA dismissed an allegation that he embezzled ninety million naira; adding that he only served for over a year.
He said the alleged embezzled sum was actually inherited from the leadership of the slaughter market that served before him.
