The criminal identified as HENRY CHIBUEZE but popularly known as VAMPIRE, was gunned down in a shootout with policemen at Omu Awa Forest within Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
VAMPIRE and members of his criminal gang were tracked down by men of the Police Special Forces led by the Intelligence Response Team of the Inspector General of Police.
Five members of the criminal gang were also arrested in the operation in the hours of today, with cache of arms and ammunition recovered from their hideout.
The arrested suspected suspects were identified as OBINNA ELA, ARINZE ABECHETA, CHUKWU EBUKA, SAMUEL UGOCHUKWU and CLIFFORD AHEANA.
The gang is accused of carrying out robbery and kidnapping attacks in Imo, Abia, Rivers, Delta and other states in the South-South and South-East geopolitical zones.
