Police commission appoints 6 new DIGs, 41 inspectors promoted

The Spokesman of the Commission, IKECHUKWU ANI, announced this in a statement where he disclosed that two of the DIGs are to proceed on pre-retirement leave.

ANI said the remaining four DIGs would replace the four retired ones and also form part of the IGP’s management team made up of seven DIGs.

The new DIGs are ABDUL DANWAWU, LAWAL SHEHU, ADEYEMI OGUNJEMILUSI, PETER OGUNYANWO who are all former AIGs, as well as ALEX OKPARA and CELESTINE OKOYE who are former Commissioners of Police.

The Commission also approved the promotion of fourteen CPs to the next rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police including the former Commissioner in Rivers state, ZAKI AHMED.

The PSC also revealed that the commission also approved the promotion of two hundred and thirty Superintendents of Police to Chief Superintendents eleven Deputy Superintendents of Police to SP, and two hundred and eleven Assistant Superintendents to DSP.

Forty one Inspectors were also promoted to ASP1.

According to the statement the PSC Chairman, SMITH said the Commission would continue to closely monitor the performance of the officers and asked them to rededicate themselves to the service of their fatherland.
