Police Arrest Suspect Over Killing of Young Woman in Emohua

The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspect in connection with the killing of a young woman from Emohua Local Government Area of the state.

Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Grace Iringe-Koko, disclosed that the command acted promptly after a report was filed last month that the victim had gone missing. She said sustained investigations led to the arrest of a prime suspect and the discovery of the crime.

According to the police, preliminary findings revealed that the victim, identified as Rita Special, was killed and buried in a forest in Emohua.

The prime suspect, Goodnews Ebere, a native of Rumukunde community in Emohua Local Government Area, allegedly confessed that the victim was murdered and that some body parts were removed for ritual purposes. He also admitted to taking the victim’s mobile phone, which he reportedly sold after the incident.

Meanwhile, Blessing Ebere, a sister to the suspect, also spoke to investigators, narrating what she knows about the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The police said investigations are ongoing and assured that all those found culpable will be brought to justice.
