Their appeal followed the new pump price of petrol announced on Wednesday by the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, from one hundred and eighty five naira per liter, to five hundred and eleven naira per liter for Rivers State.
Some residents of Port Harcourt, mainly business owners, told Today FM that they are unable to fund the amount of petrol needed to run their businesses.
The decision of NNPCL followed President BOLA TINIBU’s pronouncement during his inauguration speech that “subsidy is gone”, a statement that has received vast criticisms from various quarters.
In the meantime; the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company says more appliances in a home increases the amount of bill paid by customers.
The Chief Peoples Officer of PHED, Micah Ledee revealed this in an interview with Today FM’s Ifunanya Obeme-Ndukwe, following complaints by customers that PHED gives them outrageous and inconsistent bills.
Ledee explained that the more power supply in an area, the higher the bill of the customers.
He noted that customers refuse to pay the accurate bills given to them.
The Chief Peoples Officer of PHED also advised customers to get metered as meters are available.
