Petrol tanker drivers operating along Iwofe-Rumuolumeni Rooad in Obio-Akpor, Rivers State are having a hard time due to endless wait on the queue to the depot.Correspondent FELIX OJOGWU reports that about four hundred petrol tankers are lined up in wait to lift products from the depot.
The incoming tankers struggle against hundreds of others that have managed to load products and trying to find their way out, due to the poor access road.
Some of the drivers who spoke with our correspondent complained that the poor access to the fuel depot is compounding the problems they face.
USMAN MUSA who traveled all the way from Kogi State said he has even run out of cash after waiting on the queue for far too long.
The Iwofe-Rumuolumeni petrol tanker queue includes drivers from Lagos, Edo and Benue states; and they all called on the authorities to intervene and improve access to the fuel depot.
IDRIS MAMOUD is a petrol tanker driver from Benue State, and he challenged the national Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas workers, NUPENG, to take steps to ensure smooth loading operation at the depot
The traffic situation on Iwofe-Rumuolumeni road, which is made worse by ongoing construction work in the area, continues to pose a major challenge to motorists and residents.
