PENGASSAN Insists on Strike Until Dangote Reinstates 800 Sacked Workers

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has vowed to continue its strike until Dangote Refinery reinstates 800 of its sacked members.

Speaking during a compliance and monitoring visit to oil and gas companies in Rivers State, the National Auditor 2 of PENGASSAN, Ese Okusi, said the company had earlier signed a communique permitting workers to join the union.

He alleged that Dangote Refinery is already shopping for Indian workers to replace the dismissed Nigerians.

Okusi stressed that the union does not intend to shut down the refinery but is focused on securing the jobs and welfare of its members.

Our correspondent reports that the monitoring team also visited the Port Harcourt Refining Company, Indorama, and four other oil and gas firms to enforce compliance.
