Our correspondent LEVI ISU reports that the defectors were led by a former Chief of Staff of Rivers State Government House, Chief EMEH GLORY EMEH.
The politician from Emohua Local Government Area boasted that he would stop at nothing on his mission to ensure that the Rivers APC lose half of its members to the PDP.
Chief EMEH claimed APC big wigs that are waiting in line to join the PDP would do so as soon as they are paid for contracts that were awarded to them.
Governor NYESOM WIKE was also on hand to receive the new PDP members at the reception for them which held at the state secretariat of the party in Port Harcourt.
The Governor assured the new members that they would be treated equally with other existing PDP members in the state.
Governor WIKE also told the crowd that there were no divisions within the PDP, insisting that the ALI MODU SHERRIF, who is recognized by the Court as the National Chairman of the party, was planted in the PDP by the APC-controlled Federal Government.
