The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the defection of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as pitiful.
The party made the remark in a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong.
According to the statement, the PDP leadership, under Kabiru Turaki, said Governor Fubara “willingly travelled the path that took him to this destination,” insisting that his decision to leave the party was neither sudden nor forced.
The PDP maintained that Fubara’s defection reflects personal political choices rather than the values or principles of the party. It added that the development would not diminish the PDP’s strength or relevance in Rivers State and across the country.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to democratic ideals and assured its members and supporters that it remains focused on rebuilding and repositioning ahead of future elections.
