PDP Crisis Deepens as Nyesom Wike Withdraws from Reconciliation Efforts

The crisis within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) appears to persist, with Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, announcing his decision to pull out from previous agreements and ongoing reconciliation initiatives. In a statement on Sunday, Wike accused Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde of obstructing efforts to resolve the lingering crisis, particularly regarding the reinstatement of Samuel Anyanwu as PDP National Secretary following a Supreme Court judgment.

Wike alleged that after a meeting in Ibadan where PDP governors and he agreed on allowing Anyanwu’s return to the National Secretariat, Makinde and some governors were working against the accord. He further accused Makinde of collaborating with Peter Mba of Enugu State to convene a South-East leaders’ meeting, which threatened to withdraw support if Ude Okoye was not appointed as Secretary.

Expressing concern over the alleged dishonesty among key stakeholders, Wike declared his withdrawal from all previous agreements and vowed to continue fighting for justice within the party.
