The children, numbering over ten, were discovered by local residents behind the community’s ancestral Town Hall after an alarm was raised by some individuals.
A resident of Ozuoba, who confirmed the incident to Today FM, said that following the alarm, a group of people dressed in police uniforms quickly arrived at the compound and helped the woman in charge of the illegal orphanage to escape.
The source added that the woman, along with the men in police uniforms, fled with about three children, believed to be her biological children, leaving the rest behind.
Detectives from the Ozuoba Police Station later arrived at the scene and took the remaining children into custody.
