Professor OSINBAJO used the opportunity to advance his advocacy for Nigerians to embrace peace and unity, stressing that the best qualities of citizenship can be found in Christianity and Islam.
Professor Osinbajo called for unity of faith between both religions, while stressing that citizens must exhibit the attributes of love for one another, genuine integrity in relationships and handling of government resources and funds.
He reaffirmed the Government’s determination to do everything possible to keep Nigeria united, while calling on Nigerians to partner with government to help the less privileged.
Muslim faithful have been urged to learn from the significance of the Ramadan fasting, which emphasizes sacrifice, selflessness, love and unity.
Adherents to the Islamic faith are being enjoined to draw from the Ramadan lessons to guide their daily living and contributions to the growth and development of Nigeria.
The advice was contained in a goodwill messaged to Muslims by APC Chieftain and 2015 governorship candidate of the party in Rivers State, DAKUKU PETERSIDE.
The Director General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety tasked Muslims and the generality of Nigerians to continue to pray for the quick recovery of President MUHAMMADU BUHARI.
PETERSIDE also called for prayers for more wisdom for Acting President, Professor YEMI OSINBAJO in the discharge of his responsibilities.
The NIMASA boss equally called for prayers for the unity of Nigeria, stressing that God has a reason for bringing people of the country together.
He noted that Nigeria can achieve greatness if citizens put aside their differences and work together in fulfillment of collective aspirations.
On the issue of incessant killings and other insecurity related issues in Rivers state, the APC chieftain urged Muslims and Rivers people to pray for peace and the wisdom for security agencies to unmask those behind such evil acts.
However Governor NYESOM WIKE has called on Nigerian Muslims to use their Sallah celebration to pray for the unity of the country.
Governor WIKE also advised Muslims to emulate the Holy Prophet MOHAMMED by imbibing the ideals of sacrifice, which he exemplified.
In his goodwill message to Muslims on the occasion of Eid-El-Fitr, Governor WIKE said they should use the season marking the end of Ramadan to promote love, peace and friendship.
He urged Nigerians to exhibit religious tolerance in order to promote peace across the country and enhance national development.
Governor WIKE assured the people of Rivers State that government would work with security agencies to ensure peace and harmony for all citizens to celebrate Sallah.
