Professor OSINBAJO said such move becomes necessary in the light of the unconventional and brutal operations of terrorists and insurgents around the world.

 

 

OSINBAJO who is also a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, made the call during a meeting with visiting members of the United Nations Security Council at the State House in Abuja.

 

 

He assured the Nigerian government would progressively review the rules of engagement by the military and the entire security system, taking into considerations human rights issues.

 

 

The UN Security Council members were led by the Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom, Ambassador MATHEW RYCROFT.

 

 

A statement released by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Vice President LAOLU AKANDE quoted the UK envoy praising the Nigerian Government on the handling of the humanitarian challenge in the North-East.

 

 

Ambassador RYCROFT also called for a long term developmental outlook in addressing issues of good governance, human rights, women’s participation, economic revival, education and jobs in the region.
