A lecturer in Politics and Governance, Professor Ken Nwaeke, has expressed concern over recent political developments in the country ahead of the next general elections.
He said the process surrounding the purchase of nomination forms may not necessarily open up the political space, alleging that restrictions within the ruling All Progressives Congress could limit competition.
Nwaeke also warned that ongoing legal battles within opposition parties could weaken Nigeria’s democracy.
Similarly, political analyst Dr Anthony Egobueze raised concerns about the role of the judiciary, alleging it appears to be siding with the ruling government.
