Reacting to the incident, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Degema Local Government Area, Anthony Soberekon, warned perpetrators of crime and criminality along the Bakana waterways to desist from their illicit trade or risk arrest and prosecution.
Soberekon disclosed that the victim of the attack is yet to be identified as the attackers took the dead body away.
He emphasized that the era of criminals operating freely is over, and efforts are underway to rid the area of crime and criminality.
The CTC Chairman of Degema LGA, called on the people of Degema and those conducting business in and around the waterways to shun all acts capable of disrupting peace and economic livelihoods.
Soberekon, a former lawmaker who represented the Degema constituency in the ninth Rivers State House of Assembly, urged everyone to embrace peace to fast-track economic prosperity in the area.
