Oil Mill Traders Express Mixed Reactions as Obio/Akpor Enforces Street Trading Ban

Traders operating along the Oil Mill Market axis in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area have expressed frustration over the stoppage of street trading along the route, describing the implementation of the policy as hasty.

Some of the traders who spoke with our correspondent appealed to the council chairman, Dr. Gift Worlu, to provide an alternative trading space, following the directive ordering traders to vacate the roadside.

According to them, the sudden enforcement of the ban has affected their livelihoods, as many depend on daily sales made along the busy axis.

However, other traders have thrown their weight behind the ban on street trading, arguing that the policy will promote the free flow of traffic and enhance safety of lives and property along the major road.

They maintained that removing traders from the roadside would reduce accidents and congestion, urging affected traders to cooperate with the local government while awaiting further arrangements.
