Project Coordinator of HYPREP, MARVIN DEKIL gave the assurance while speaking at the 3rd Stakeholders’ Forum, held in Port Harcourt, where he also revealed the project is being monitored by the United Nations, and has been named by the United Nations Environmental Project, UNEP as the largest ongoing cleanup process in the world.
He also revealed that in the first quarter of next year, specific number of facilities will be put in place for the provision of water in various communities of the Ogoni kingdom.
DEKIL however said the purpose of the creation of HYPREP is not only to carry out community projects, but to ensure the remediation process is carried out on sites agreed in the UNEP report.
He disclosed said the process is being delayed by some communities and called for the assistance of the leadership in the affected local government areas.
On their part, members of the Governing Council and the Board of Trustees of HYPREP also called for the cooperation of the Ogoni in the remediation process.
