Our correspondent reports that the APC candidate for Rivers South-East Senatorial District, Senator MAGNUS ABE was joined by his supporters in a procession from Gokana to Khana.
The jubilation started after the Returning Officer for Rivers South-East Senatorial District, Professor GEDEON ONUKWUSI declared the result of the election.
Addressing representatives of the various political parties at the Collation Centre in Bori, Professor ONUKWUSI declared that a total of one hundred and fifty-four thousand, seven hundred and three votes were cast in the senatorial election.
The Returning Office announced that that the APC candidate secured one hundred and twenty-five thousand, nine hundred and thirty-eight votes.
Professor ONUKWUSI also announced that twenty-five thousand, three hundred and ninety-four votes were cast in favour of OLAKA WOGU of the People’s Democratic Party.
He said two thousand, six hundred and twenty-seven ballots were returned invalid and rejected.
In other results from Rivers South-East; BARRY MPIGI of the APC was declared winner of Tai-Oyigbo-Eleme Federal Constituency with forty-eight thousand votes to defeat PDP’s JACOBSON MBINA who polled eleven thousand votes.
MAURICE PRONEN of the APC was also declared winner for the Khana-Gokana Federal Constituency seat with sixty-eight thousand votes while DUM DEEKOR of PDP scored twenty thousand votes.
FRIDAY NKEEH of the APC was also declared winner for the Rivers State House of Assembly seat for Khana Constituency two with fifteen thousand votes to beat his closest rival, DINEBARI LOOLO of the PDP who polled four thousand votes.
INNOCENT BARIKOR of the APC was declared winner of the election for Gokana state Constituency with twenty four thousand votes, defeating PDP’s ISRAEL NGBUELU.
It may interest you to note that the votes declared at the Collation Centres would need to be confirmed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, through the State Resident Electoral Commissioner.
