The Ogoni Indigenous Contractors have commended the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, for organizing what they described as a “remarkable and memorable” 25th anniversary celebration of the Commission.
In a statement signed by their President, Kenule Kukang, the contractors praised the event for not only highlighting the achievements and projects undertaken by the current NDDC board but also for bringing together the diverse ethnic groups in the Niger Delta in a show of cultural unity.
Kukang noted that the anniversary celebration served as a platform for showcasing the Commission’s impact under Dr. Ogbuku’s leadership and demonstrated the unity and peaceful coexistence among the region’s people. “The event fostered the unity existing between the various ethnic groups that make up the Niger Delta region, making the area a peaceful and fertile ground for both local and foreign investors,” he stated.
He further attributed the success of the event to Dr. Ogbuku’s visionary leadership, adding that the Commission is being steered towards greater heights with laudable and quality projects that address the needs of the people.
“The critics of the NDDC can now clearly see the transformation under Dr. Ogbuku’s watch. The Commission is no longer just a name, but a functional institution proffering real solutions to the plight of the Niger Delta people,” Kukang added.
The NDDC’s 25th anniversary celebration was marked by exhibitions, cultural displays, and presentations that highlighted the developmental strides made in the region over the years.
