In a statement issued in Port Harcourt and signed by the President of MEMPON, RALPH JOHN and its Secretary-General, Golden Onyema, it expressed the belief that the President’s decision to perform the flag – off of the UNEP report implementation, is a step in a right direction, noting that it will eventually benefit the people.
JOHN urged President BUHARI to also take further steps to clean up other Niger Delta polluted areas in the nearest future and advised Rivers people to maintain peace at all times for development to thrive.
MEMPON in the statement noted that the East/West Road ought to be a six -lane road in line with other global road networks, leading to viable industries in Rivers State.
Recall that the President Speaking through the Vice President Prof Yemi Osibanjo promised that the cleansing has come to stay.
