Obio/Akpor Land Grabbing Committee Vows Crackdown on Illegal Land Acquisition

The Committee Against Land Grabbing in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area has warned that it will take decisive action against real estate developers and individuals involved in illegal land acquisition, regardless of their status as indigenes or non-indigenes.

Addressing journalists in Port Harcourt, the committee chairman, Alex Wele, said the team is committed to ensuring justice for landowners whose properties have been unlawfully seized by individuals, groups, or corporate entities.

Wele emphasized that the committee’s mandate is not to witch-hunt anyone but to restore the reputation, image, and dignity of Obio/Akpor Local Government.

He further called for the cooperation of security agencies, the judiciary, and all arms of government to support the committee’s work in tackling land-related crimes.

The chairman also warned that any land within the jurisdiction of Obio/Akpor found to have been improperly acquired will be subject to review and appropriate action based on the committee’s findings.
