Obio-Akpor Council Urges Calm as Drivers Protest Along East-West Road

The Obio-Akpor Local Government Council has appealed to protesting commercial drivers and residents to remain calm and avoid actions capable of disrupting public peace and order following a protest along the East-West Road.

Reacting to the incident, Council Chairman Gift Worlu said the council received reports of an unfortunate incident involving a commercial minibus driver near the Obiri-Ikwerre Flyover.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Goodluck Nsirim, the council said the reported death of the driver has not been confirmed, but acknowledged that he sustained life-threatening injuries.

Worlu has ordered an immediate investigation into the incident and assured the public that anyone found responsible will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
