The passing out parades of the new set of NYSC members have also been held at various National Orientation Camps ahead of deployment to various locations for their primary assignment.
Here in Rivers State; Governor NYESOM WIKE has charged heads of public schools not to reject any corps members posted to their facilities.
The charge was contained in an address to the NYSC members, which was read on behalf of the Governor by the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Sir KENNETH KOBANI.
Speaking at the State Permanent Orientation Camp around at Nonwa-Gbam, in Tai Local Government Area, the government scribe challenged the corps members to see their national service as a call for sacrifice.
He also advised traditional rulers and other stakeholders in various communities across the state to give the corps members all necessary assistance to fulfill the objectives of the NYSC scheme.
In his address of welcome, the NYSC State Coordinator, OMOTAYO ADEWOYE thanked the Rivers State government and security agencies for ensuring security of the corps members during the three weeks orientation camping.
ADEWOYE also requested additional support from the government and communities for the safety of the NYSC members outside the camp.
He equally encouraged the corps members to use the opportunity of their national service to acquire experience for the development of the society as well as to better their lives.
Our correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR reports that over two thousand, three hundred and thirty-nine members of the Batch A Stream One NYSC Scheme took part in the camping and have been posted to various locations within Rivers State for their Primary Assignment.
