Ihunwo made the allegation during a sustained solidarity match against the plot for the impeachment process of Governor Fubara and the suspended leader of Rivers State House of Assembly, Edison Ehie.
Addressing newsmen at the entrance of the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt, Ihunwo maintained their pledge to support the fight against the impeachment of the governor and political “godfatherism” in the state.
He said the youths of Rivers State voted for Governor Fubara and warned that neither one man, nor group of few individuals can remove the governor.
Also speaking, the NYCN Chairman of all the Local Government Chairmen, Ramson Iyala said those that made statements against Ihunwo should be held accountable for the attempt on his life.
On his part, a Youth Leader in Orashi region of Rivers state, Sopuruchukwu Ambrose also insisted that it is too early to threaten Governor Fubara with impeachment notice.
Today FM reports that the youths built a tent by the major entrance of the Government House with their drums, chanting solidarity songs.
Meanwhile, report says three Rivers State youths who are participating on the solidarity match against the plot to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara have been shot by operatives attached to Old Government Residential Area, GRA Police Station.
Over thirty youths have also been reportedly arrested and detained at the station for alleged attempt to break into the home of the embattled speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule at Old GRA.
Today FM’ Uchendu Ejiowhor who is following up the activities at the front of Government House, reports that some of the youths who were chanting solidarity songs, took their rally to the streets of Old GRA.
A police officer told to Today FM that the youths matched to the residence of Amaewhule before security personnel deployed in the area opened fire in an attempt to stop the youths.
A report about the death of one of the victims is yet unconfirmed while, two others are said to have sustained serious bullet wounds.
The Chief Protocol Officer to the Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ikechukwu Wordu who sent a save our soul voice note from the custody of the police to Today FM, called on the Inspector General of Police and Civil Society Organizations to come to their aide over the alleged intimidation from the hands of police in Rivers State.
Reacting the incident, the Rivers State Police Command through the Public Relations Officer; Grace Iringe-Koko said the youth group tried to attack the embattled Speaker and pull his gate at his residence.
