The warning strike, which is meant to last three days, is in protest by NUPENG against International Oil Companies over unfair labour practices.
NUPENG is particularly pained that the International Oil Companies engage in indiscriminate sack of workers without benefits and refusal to allow their workers to join labour unions.
The National Executive Council of NUPENG met recently in Port Harcourt and issued a twenty-one day ultimatum for government intervention in the faceoff with the oil majors.
The NUPENG leaders have also scheduled another emergency meeting for Abuja tomorrow to review developments, ahead of the expiration of the deadline and the commencement of the warning strike on Wednesday.
