Experts believe that the intercontinental ballistic missile tested by North Korea could reach the US state of Alaska.
In a joint statement, General VINCENT BROOKS, who is the commander of US forces in Korea, and South Korean Joint Chiefs Chairman General LEE SUN-JIN said the allies were maintaining patience and self-restraint, but this could change.
The allies warned that it would be a grave mistake for the North to think otherwise, while China and Russia have urged the North to suspend its weapons programme in exchange for a halt to US-South Korean military exercises.
