The NOA intends to take the campaign down to the grassroots as part of activities marking the 2017 National Symbols Day.
This was made known at the media unveiling of what has been dubbed ‘HIYA Nigeria Project’, which was launched in Abuja in partnership with the Nigerian Television Authority and other stakeholders.
Speaking at the event; a representatives of the NOA Director General, NGOZI EKOBE ?said the campaign tag is an acronym derived from the three major indigenous languages, which are Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba and the all others grouped under A.
The NOA official stressed the need for deeper public appreciation and respect for national symbols to enhance their dignity and honour and to check the prevailing high rate of abuse in the country.
The official said the HIYA Nigeria Project is structured to provide civic education through the use of indigenous languages towards sensitizing and enlightening Nigerians on the significance of national symbols. ?
Nigeria’s Vice President, Professor YENI OSINBAJO, is billed to perform launch of the HIYA Nigeria national orientation campaign at a ceremony tomorrow.
