KANU’s position was expressed through his lawyers during a briefing of newsmen in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
However; KANU’s lawyers said such negotiations can only take place after he is released from detention.
One of the lawyers, IFEANYI EJIOFOR, also used the opportunity to clarify that NNAMDI KANU has no connection with the agitations by militant groups in the Niger Delta.
EJIOFOR said the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta could not have represented the IPOB leader in any negotiation with the Federal Government.
The explanation was made against the backdrop of demands by the Niger Delta militants for the release of NNAMDI KANU as part of conditions to end the resurgence of militancy in the region.
The lawyers also made it clear that KANU was also not part of the bargaining chips of neither the so-called Niger Delta Avengers.
NNAMDI KANU is facing charges of treason and membership of an unlawful society, along with two others.
