NIMASA was reacting to statement credited to the Ijaw Youth Council claiming that the agency is not in support of the establishment of the Maritime University.
In a statement issued by the Head of Corporate Communications of NIMASA, ISICHEI OSAMGBI, the agency said the assertion is far from the truth.
The statement assured that the Federal Government is committed to the actualisation of the project which the Agency conceived, stressing that NIMASA is supporting every aspect of the law in its determination to fulfil its obligations.
It noted that the National Assembly recently held a public hearing on the matter and that it is expected that the funding of the institution and other aspects of running it will be specified in the Act setting up the University.
The Agency said the benefits derivable from the setting up of the institution will be quite numerous including; the development of human capital and creation of job opportunities.
