Nigeria’s Vice President, Professor YEMI OSINBAJO has ruled out importation of items to be use for the implementation of school feeding programme of the APC Administration.Professor OSINBAJO gave this indication when he received a delegation of officials of the World Food Programme during a courtesy visit to his office in Abuja.OSINBAJO told the visiting delegation led by the Executive Director of the UN agency; ERTHARIN COUSIN that the Federal Government will run a home-grown school feeding through which primary school pupils will receive one full meal a day.He said government intends to energise the agriculture base in the states to enable farmers benefit from the scheme and also create jobs for caterers and other operators in the value-chain.Vice President OSINABJO disclosed that the school feeding programme has already started in some states and the impact is being felt, with well-fed students, rise in school enrollment and energized agricultural economies.He promised that the Federal Government would partner with the World Food Programme on the implementation of the feeding programmes.The remarks were contained in a statement released by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity in the Office of the Vice President, LAOLU AKANDE.The statement quoted the leader of the WFP delegation, ERTHARIN COUSIN, commending the efforts of the Buhari Administration in addressing the plight of Internally Displaced Persons in the North East of Nigeria.
