Nigerias’ inflation rate drops for second consecutive month

Latest data published by the National Bureau of Statistics indicates that the Consumer Price Index which measures inflation, increased by seventeen point ninety three per cent; year-on-year in the fifth month of the year 2021.

While this is zero point one nine per cent points lower than the eighteen point twelve per cent per cent recorded in April, increases were recorded in all Classification of Individual Consumption by Purpose divisions that yielded the headline index.

On a month-on-month basis, the headline index increased by zero point zero one per cent in May, representing higher percentage points of zero point zero four, than the rate recorded in the previous month which is zero point nine seven per cent.
