Nigerian Senate Commends President Muhammadu Buhari for Action on Abdulrasheed Maina Reinstatement Scandal.

The Senate praised President BUHARI for ordering the sack of the former Chairman of the Presidential Task team on Pension Reforms.
The lawmakers also resolved to set up an ad-hoc committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the reinstatement of MAINA, four years after he was removed due to alleged fraud.
‎The Senate took the decisions after the controversy was brought to the attention of the chamber by ‎Senator ISAH MISSAU.
Lawmakers, who took turns to speak on the matter, condemn what they called a major breach of procedure in the handling of the MAINA saga.
Senator OLUSHOLA ADEYEYE said the secrecy surrounding the return of MAINA to the Federal Civil Service is an indictment on Nigeria’s security agencies.
Senator ADEYEYE wandered why the security agencies did not notice and arrested MAINA when he sneaked back into the country‎.
‎On his part; Senator BASSEY AKPAN urged the Senate to launch an investigation into the matter and bring those who are complicit in MAINA’s return to the civil service to book.
In the same manner; Senator DINO MELAYE aimed directly at the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, ABUBAKAR MALAMI.
Senator MELAYE and other Senators maintained that MALAMI did not act in the public interest for allegedly helping MAINA to return to the Federal Civil Service despite being on the wanted list of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The Senate President, BUKOLA SARAKI later put the motion to a voice vote and it was resolved that the ad hoc investigative committee should report back in four weeks.
