This followed the order of some fifty thousand pairs of shoes to be used by officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army.
The President of the Nigerian Senate, BUKOLA SARAKI gave this indication in a statement commending the leadership of the army for the initiative.
Senator SARAKI noted that the decision by the Nigerian Army to patronize local shoe manufactured in Aba, Abia State, shows that the military was living up to its billing as an institution that can play vital roles in boosting the economy.
According to the statement signed by Senator SARAKI’s media assistant, the Senate President equally praised the Nigerian Air Force for the partnership with a local manufacturing company in the fabrication of airplane parts.
Senator SARAKI underscored the patronage of made-in-Nigeria goods as a solution for the economic problems facing the country.
The Senate President also advised the Federal Government as well as state government to encourage local manufacturers through the provision of infrastructure, soft loans and patronage of their products.
