The General Officer Commanding Six Division, Nigerian Army Port Harcourt, Major General, Jamal Abdussalam who addressed newsmen at the scene of incident, listed some of the things discovered to include, fourteen reserviour containing at least two hundred thousand liters of crude oil, amounting to two points eight million liters of crude.
Major General Abdussalam, who led the operation into a tick forest in Odagwa community in Etche, said forty nine illegal cooking pots used in processing illegal crude oil at the tick forest in Odagwa community were also recovered.
Major General Abdussalam, who doubles as the Land Component Commander, Joint Task Force, South South, Operation Delta Safe, noted that the discovery is part of the efforts of the Nigerian Army in ensuring that the Federal government gets what is due it, to improve the economy towards ensuring the welfare of the people.
Major General, Jamal Abdussalam while advising those involved in the illegal activities to repent and venture into legal jobs, warned that the army will not relent in going after perpetrators of illegal oil activities.
Today FM’S Uchendu Ejiowhor reports that the Army also arrested six persons conveying illegally refined oil products.
