The Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel SANI USMAN said the operation was carried out by troops of 119 Task Force Battalion under Eight Division of the Nigerian Army.
The Army spokesman said one soldier lost his life in the encounter, while three other members of the team were wounded in action.
He said the offensive began at about 4PM and lasted up to four hours, which led to reinforcement of support from the Nigerian Air Force.
Colonel USMAN said two pick-up trucks used by the insurgents were recovered, as well as one Browning machine gun, one Anti Aircraft Gun, two General Purpose Machine Guns, one Light Machine Gun, two Rocket Propelled Guns and bombs.
The troops also recovered five AK-47 rifles and five hundred and fifty rounds of Anti-Aircraft Gun ammunition.
