Nigeria Not Ready for Local Vaccine Production — Health Minister

The Minister of State for Health, Iziaq Salako, has said Nigeria is not yet capable of producing vaccines locally.

Speaking on Thursday while addressing the country’s vaccine production capacity, Salako explained that vaccine manufacturing requires extensive economic and technical evaluation, stressing that any local production effort must be commercially viable to succeed.

He noted that although Nigeria’s population of more than 240 million people presents a significant market advantage, the country must ensure that its production plans align with global standards to be sustainable.
