Nigeria join counterparts in endorsement of global commitment to reverse harmful effect of climate change.

This followed the signing of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change by President MUHAMMADU BUHARI.

During the ceremony on the sideline of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, President BUHARI said the move was a demonstration of Nigeria’s commitment.

President BUHARI later delivered an address to declare open a meeting on “Taking Climate Action for Sustainable Development”, which was co-hosted by Nigeria and the United Nations Environment Programme,

BUHARI pledged Nigeria’s commitment to reducing Green House Gas Emissions unconditionally by twenty per cent and conditionally by forty-five per cent.

The Nigerian leader expressed confidence that with the support of development partners, Nigeria would meet the above targets.
