Data released by the Bureau based on which the latest assessment was made covered the period between April and May this year.
The inflation measurement shows that the headline index increased by one point eight-eight percent in May.
Food inflation fell by zero point three-zero percent in May, closing nineteen point two-seven percent, as against nineteen point three-zero for April.
The NBS noted that increases in prices of meat, bread, cereals, fish, potatoes, milk, cheese, eggs and vegetables helped to ensure a rise in the food index.
