The Director of Defence Information, Major-General RABE ABUBAKAR said the military operation is a friendly exercise meant to strengthen the amphibious training of its personnel.
Major-General ABUBAKAR said the main objective of Operation Crocodile Smile is not to engage in armed combat with Niger Delta militant.
However; ABUBAKAR said the military personnel would respond to any security threat within the region, both in self defence and the protection of Nigeria’s sovereignty.
The Defence spokesman gave these indications while responding to questions on a national television programme monitored in Port Harcourt.
