The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has appealed for calm following protests by some Ghanaians accusing Nigerians of being responsible for crimes in the country.
In a statement on Tuesday, NiDCOM Chairman/CEO, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, condemned what she described as a “blanket generalisation” of Nigerians in Ghana as criminals. She stressed that such sweeping accusations are unfair to the majority of law-abiding Nigerians residing in the country.
The reaction follows a viral video showing some Ghanaians protesting and demanding the expulsion of Nigerians, alleging that their behaviour is not in line with Ghanaian cultural norms.
