NGO Calls for Greater Support for the Boy Child

A non-governmental organisation, Mother of Good Counseling Initiative, has called for increased support, mentorship, and empowerment of the boy child.

Executive Director of the group, Dr. Doris Onyeneke, made the call during an event marking the International Day of the Boy Child.

She stressed the need for deliberate efforts to motivate, guide, and properly nurture boys to become responsible members of society.

Dr. Onyeneke also maintained that the boy child should not be excluded from discussions surrounding issues such as rape and gender-based violence.

Some participants at the event said the advocacy programme broadened their understanding of the responsibilities and expectations placed on boys in society.

The theme of this year’s celebration is “Raising Responsible Boys for a Better Tomorrow.”
