Rivers State Branch Controller of CBN, Maxwell Okafor who addressed business owners at Mile one Market in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of the state, reiterated CBN’S stand to stop accepting old naira note after 31st of January, 2023.
Okafor while encouraging the people to visit and deposit their old naira notes at the banks to avoid losing their money, said the essence of the naira redesign is to check corruption, reduce criminality and for CBN to be able to manage the naira in circulation.
Okafor also disclosed that the new naira notes have a tracking code.
Today FM’s Uchendu Ejiowhor reports that some of the businessmen and women who were present at the sensitization expressed concerns over their continuous receipt of old naira notes from ATM machines.
